X-Rings / Quad Rings©
Click below for the standard X-Ring sizes:
X-Rings, also known as Quad Rings©, are similar to O-rings, but their cross-sectional profile is shaped like an "X". When installed, X-Rings seal with four contact surfaces, whereas O-rings seal with a single, larger contact surface. This feature provides the X-Ring with double the sealing area of a standard O-ring. X-Rings are commonly used in dynamic applications, where they help reduce friction during operation and at the start of movement (breakout), and they also lower the risk of spiraling failure compared to O-rings.
The two common materials used in these are FKM/Viton TM and NBR.
Here are the advantages of X-Rings compared to standard O-rings:
Lower friction
Longer lifespan
Fewer rotations and distortions
Excellent sealing efficiency
Common Uses:
X-Rings are used in a wide range of dynamic and static applications, including:
Dynamic rods and pistons
Rotary and spiral movements on shafts and spindles
Static-radial sealing for bushings, pipes, etc.
Static-axial sealing for flanges, etc.
