Typical Uses:

In the pharmaceutical, medical, and chemical fields. PTFE-coated O-rings consist of an inner elastomer ring (made of natural or synthetic elastic material) and a seamless PTFE tube that surrounds the elastomer ring. PTFE-coated O-rings are used where resistance to chemicals exceeds what is offered by O-rings with standard elastomers. Compared to PTFE sealing rings (polytetrafluoroethylene), PTFE-coated O-rings have a broader range of applications. PTFE has excellent resistance to chemicals in various media, but it lacks the elastic rubber properties. On the other hand, PTFE-coated O-rings combine the properties of both materials in one seal. The necessary elasticity is provided by the elastomer ring, while the chemical resistance is offered by the PTFE tube.

Advantages:

  • Excellent resistance to most fluids and chemicals, except for alkaline-coated metals and certain fluorine compounds.

  • Temperature range from -60°C to +260°C (depending on the elastomer composition).

  • Suitable for food products, pharmaceutical, and medical applications.

  • Physiologically safe and sterilizable.

  • Low friction, no wear, and no sticking effect.

  • Proven elastic behavior for sealing capacity.

Typical Uses: PTFE-coated O-rings are ideally suited for use in medical technology, food products, water, sewage, and similar sectors in industry. A common application for PTFE-coated O-rings is in sealing valve stems and secondary sealing elements for mechanical seals. PTFE-coated O-rings are mainly used as static seals. They are also suitable as sealing elements for slow material transfer and rotational movements. In the chemical processing industry, seals with special sealing profiles are often required. For such applications, we manufacture special seals with various cross-sectional profiles for flanges, drawings, or molds.

Technical Data:

  • Working Pressure: Up to 25 MPa (250 bar) from 5 MPa (50 bar) with a concave backup ring (upon request).

  • Temperature: -60°C to +260°C, depending on the elastomer composition.

  • Media: Practically in all liquids, gases, and chemicals.

Materials:

  • PTFE FEP tubing is a shortened term for Teflon. This compound has properties similar to PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). It also has excellent chemical resistance and very good wear resistance. Unlike PTFE, FEP can be thermally welded, allowing the compound to create semi-flexible finished products, such as thin welded tubes.

  • Inner Ring: Two elastomer compositions can be selected for the inner rings.
